'Slow is Good'

Sometimes I get a colourscape so stuck in my head that I cannot stop thinking about it until I find it in my colour play and stain the canvas threads with the persistent hues. It’s a kind of colour alchemy. It might be a street sign or water refraction or sartorial design or a tiny corner of the wall that seizes me with its colour pairing. I wonder if my job is to listen to these buzzing details and not swat them away like distractions. My job is to follow the distractions and find a way to show them to you.

When I see this collection I can see a true moment of freedom in my art practice. I can see the confident stride in each stroke. It is laughter on canvas. It is the knowing that I made my vision a reality.

Maybe mastery and play are two sides to the same coin. In order to master a skill, we must find the edges of our abilities. explore possibilities . Hold an open hand to your time and your tools. Take notes on What feels good to your body. what makes your heart happy. Play exists in the soul. Not the mind. It’s not always correct, but it is always forward motion, and therefore it is always right.
